What to Wear: Curvy Babes

If you’re part of team curvalicious, this one’s for you.

In the boudoir business I see every body shape and size. When it comes to curves, there’s a whole world of possibilities that can make you look fabulous during your photoshoot. No matter your size, highlighting your sexy shape is going your biggest asset; the trick is knowing how. Here are some of my wardrobe tips for making the magic happen.

Corsets

The best part of curves? Corsets. Corsets, of course, are one of the better-known boudoir styles, but the key here is to get the perfect size. As a general rule you’ll want to measure your natural waist and then select a corset that’s 7-10 inches smaller. Corsets are a great way to boost the girls, just make sure you’re lacing into the right size for the best look!

Garter Belt

My advice for garter belts would be to grab a thicker belt like this to get the most flattering outline. Skinny garter belts are not flattering. End of story.

Bodysuits

Bodysuits are great because they let you express your sensuality without worrying about those little areas you’re self-conscious about. When you’re looking for the perfect bodysuit play around with different textures and colors to see what’s the most flattering. While black will be a forever classic, you might just find that bright red perfectly matches your playful personality.

Mid to high rise underwear or two-piece sets

Let’s talk two-pieces! These can be a little more tricky for curvy girls, but with a properly fitted bra, it can look amazing!

My first suggestion would be for you to go for a retro look with some high-rise undies and a gorgeous bra. My personal favorite to suggest is this glamorous set from Playful Promises. Not only is the bra amazing, but the website is pretty much my favorite one out there. Note: Since they’re are a UK brand, the sizing is different and tend to run a little small, so just check their sizing chart.

Extra Credit

For a fun, flirty and feminine option you can also try out a lacey dress option like this one from Amazon. Not only does it give definition to your shape, but it has a swoon-worthy dash of feminine charm too. And don't forget your props and accessories! Think jerseys, button downs, instruments, hats, etc.- our only rule is to stay away from live animals and children in the studio!

Whichever outfit or style you choose remember that it’s the confidence that shines through the brightest during the shoot. When you’re comfortable, and what you’re wearing is a representation of you, it gives you that much more sass and power.
